An artist's book is a work of art in the book form. Artists either create their work to be viewed as a book, or they recycle an existing book by adding collage, paints, and other art materials to create a new work of art. Most book artists are drawn to the book form for one of several reasons. The book is easily transported, held, and immediately viewed, unlike most other forms of art. This gives the artist and the viewer a very special relationship, and allows a very intimacy of presentation not available in many other art forms.

The artist book is usually made up of pages that are meant to be turned, just like a mainstream book that you'll find at the library or bookstore. This adds a new element to an artist's work- that of sequence. Finally, the book form can be used metaphorically. What begins as a covered artwork, what is secret, and what ideas must the viewer take an action to view?

I have been making artist's books since my mother gave me old clip art books to collage into blank notebooks when I was tiny. Since then, I've made more artist's books than I can count on my fingers and toes, some of which I'm pleased to show here.
