Field Book of Common Rocks and Minerals, completed 2004 Field Book of Common Rocks and Minerals is a book about the relationship I have with my mother. This book explores both her past, including her abuse as a child, and my own beginnings of memory of my childhood, as well as her projecting her reality onto me. How have her memories my own memories? The choice of this book relates to the title and content. My grandmother used to always say to my mother, "you are my rock." And, in turn, I have felt much pressure to be my mother's "rock." Media included are acrylic paint, gesso, watercolor, ink, waters soluble crayons, collage, hand written text, and found objects. This book has appeared in dog eared magazine, Shown here are a few pages from Field Book. The images are pretty big, so take a while to download. Hopefully it's worth the wait. |
Your Heart Has Nine Lives is an altered book about my relationship with my youngest sister. It took me about 1 1/2 years to finish this book. It's been a tough time, too, as my relationship with Kellie has been very emotional. We've always been close until very recently, and now I feel both abandonned and puzzled about who she is becoming.
